The Impact

When Mou Rouyi was 2 years old, she had problems with her health such as purple lips (indicating decreased oxygen, difficulty breathing, and frequent crying). Her family realized her condition was serious and took her to the child health hospital to see a doctor. She was given a cardiac ultrasound and the doctor suspected she may have congenital heart disease. A second visit to the Shanghai Children's Hospital confirmed that Mou Rouyi was suffering from CHD. Along with this diagnosis, it was also found that she had a groin hernia and underwent surgery at 4 years old.

Currently, the father is making between 20,000 RMB ($2,792 USD) to 30,000 RMB ($4,188 USD), by working in a local restaurant. His salary is the only income the family has. and they cannot get another loan to pay for Mou Rouyi's heart surgery.

However, through the donations, Mou Rouyi was able to have her heart surgery on February 15th, 2022. The doctors were able to fix her condition by performing a thoracotomy (closed heart surgery through a side incision) and didn't have to conduct open heart surgery. Her recovery time was short and she only spent a few days in the ICU.

By donating 30,000 RMB ($4,188 USD), made from the sales of these photographs, Mou Rouyi, an 8-year-old girl from Zhejiang province (currently living in Fujian province) was able to obtain heart surgery.

Kong Yunzhe

Kong Yunzhe was hospitalized with pneumonia.  During his examination, he was given a cardiac ultrasound and diagnosed with the congenital heart disease ASD.  He has been prone to asthma and chest tightness recently.  The doctors recommended heart surgery as soon as possible.
The father moved to Shandong province where he found work as an assembly line worker in an electronics factory. He is able to make 20,000 RMB ($2,792 USD) a year.  He supports the family by sending them as much money home as he can. The mother takes care of the grandparents, Kong Yunzhe, and his 4-year-old brother.  The family has limited money, no savings, and no ability to borrow.  They could not afford to pay for Kong Yunzhe's heart surgery.

However, through donations from proceeds of these photographs, Kong Yunzhe was able to obtain surgery and has started to recover (as of mid 2023)
